Leaving Southampton in my old Mini

Smiling? Must be quite early on then.

Great scenery, Welsh rain.

Summing up how I felt on the last stretch

Snowdonia, bit of a journey in the Mini but we made it. What I remember of the Saturday is rain and scenery. Spud wasn't feeling well so we finished early, just shy of 6 hours.

The overnight camp site had a great view because it was rather high up the side of a hill. In the middle of the night, just for an hour or two, a fierce wind blew up and battered us all. I remember waking to see the sides of the tent bulging and hear the wind-muffled shouts of people outside in the night. Rumour had it in the morning that a few teams' tents had blown clean away. The portaloos didn't do very well at staying upright either.

The Sunday brought sunshine (for a while anyway), and a fair performance from us with a well designed route did wonders for our final position.

Overall position: a respectable 166th / 506 teams.
